How Do I Measure for a Steering Column Drop?

Before ordering a steering column drop, determine the outside diameter of your steering column and the approximate distance required between the underside of the dash and the steering column mounting location. Seating position, steering-wheel location and column angle should all be established before selecting the final drop length.

When building a custom vehicle, mock up the driver’s seat, steering column and steering wheel before making the final selection. A properly positioned steering column improves driver comfort while preventing the steering wheel from sitting unnecessarily high or low in relation to the dash.
