Give your 1954–1956 Oldsmobile 88 the ride, handling and performance of a modern custom car with a completely new Scott’s Hotrods chassis. Whether you’re building a comfortable highway cruiser, powerful Oldsmobile restomod, Pro-Touring build or a ground-hugging custom, every Scott’s Olds 88 chassis is Built-To-Order around your specific vehicle and build goals.
This isn’t a universal frame adapted to fit your Oldsmobile. Scott’s builds each 1954, 1955 and 1956 Oldsmobile 88 chassis specifically for the application using our proprietary Independent Front Suspension, Equal-Length Parallel 4-Bar rear suspension, mandrel-bent frame rails and heavy-duty components engineered for modern performance.
Every Scott’s chassis begins with the specifications of the car it’s going underneath.
Your engine, transmission, wheel and tire combination, brake package, steering configuration, suspension choice and desired ride height are considered before fabrication begins. Engine and transmission mounts can be positioned for your specific drivetrain, while the chassis is configured around the stance and performance characteristics you want from the finished car.
From a traditional Oldsmobile-powered cruiser to a modern EFI-powered restomod, the chassis is built around your car—not the other way around.

Coilover or SuperSlam Oldsmobile Chassis
Coilover Chassis
For an Oldsmobile built to rack up miles, Scott’s Coilover Chassis provides modern ride quality and handling while maintaining the stance appropriate for the build.
Aldan American single-adjustable coilovers come standard, with additional performance-oriented shock options available.
Whether you’re building a comfortable cruiser or a more aggressive Pro-Touring-inspired Olds 88, the chassis can be configured around how you intend to drive it.
SuperSlam Airbag Chassis
Want your 1954–1956 Oldsmobile 88 sitting on the ground?
Scott’s SuperSlam Chassis is engineered around air suspension from the beginning. The increased suspension travel and adjustable ride height allow the car to achieve an extremely low parked stance while maintaining a usable driving height on the road.
The current page already has a SuperSlam Olds 88 chassis photo, so I’d make that image prominent directly underneath this section rather than leaving it buried toward the bottom.
From Bare Chassis to Complete Roller
One of Scott’s biggest advantages is how completely we can configure your chassis before it leaves our shop.
Available options include power rack & pinion steering, Wilwood disc brakes, upgraded coilovers, front and rear sway bars, Moser rear-end upgrades, Watt’s Link, custom aluminum fuel tank, in-tank fuel pump, stainless steel fuel lines, stainless steel brake lines, steering linkage and more.
Rather than buying a bare frame and sourcing every major component separately, your Oldsmobile chassis can be ordered as a much more complete package engineered around the finished vehicle.

We stand behind ALL of the parts we manufacture. Other parts that we do not manufacture such as brakes, steering racks, ball joints, brake flex lines, power steering lines, etc carry their own manufacturers warranties. We are not responsible for these items outside of their original warranty.
All of Scott’s Hotrods manufactured parts are guaranteed to be free of defects in materials & workmanship for the lifetime of the part. Scott’s Hotrods warranty is non-transferable.
At the front is Scott’s proprietary Independent Front Suspension, engineered and manufactured by Scott’s Hotrods.
The system features a one-piece 2″x4″x3/16″-wall IFS crossmember, heavy-duty 1-1/8″x.250-wall DOM tubular upper and lower control arms, built-in anti-dive geometry, oversized serviceable press-in ball joints and Scott’s CNC machined stainless steel adjustable upper control-arm rod ends.
This is Scott’s IFS—not a Mustang II suspension adapted to fit an Oldsmobile.
Equal-Length Parallel 4-Bar Rear Suspension
Out back, Scott’s replaces the original rear suspension with our Equal-Length Parallel 4-Bar Rear Suspension.
Heavy-duty DOM link bars and CNC machined stainless steel rod ends provide a strong, adjustable rear suspension system. Unlike a triangulated 4-link, the equal-length parallel design helps maintain more consistent pinion-angle geometry throughout suspension travel.
A Moser Ford 9-inch housing with 31-spline axles comes standard. Available upgrades include a Moser M9 FAB housing, 35-spline axles and Scott’s Watt’s Link for customers looking for an even more capable rear suspension package.
Mandrel Bent. TIG Welded. Built in America.
Every Scott’s 1954–1956 Oldsmobile 88 Chassis begins with raw materials and is manufactured using vehicle-specific fixtures and jigs.
The chassis features mandrel-bent 2″x4″x.120-wall frame rails, an 8-point 1-1/2″ DOM tubular chassis crossmember, Scott’s heavy-duty one-piece IFS crossmember and 100% TIG-welded construction.
The chassis and crossmembers are also engineered with the complete vehicle in mind. Seating area, floor clearance, exhaust routing, drivetrain placement and chassis rigidity all matter when building a chassis for a custom car.
SuperSlam Chassis - Olds 88
Build Your Oldsmobile on a Better Foundation
The 1954, 1955 and 1956 Oldsmobile 88 has the size, styling and unmistakable presence that makes a mid-’50s custom stand out. The chassis underneath it doesn’t have to drive like it’s more than 70 years old.
A Scott’s Hotrods 1954–1956 Oldsmobile 88 Custom Chassis combines that classic Oldsmobile character with Scott’s proprietary IFS, Equal-Length Parallel 4-Bar rear suspension, Moser Ford 9-inch rear end, rack & pinion steering and your choice of coilover or SuperSlam air suspension.
From a comfortable long-distance cruiser to a high-horsepower restomod or completely laid-out custom, Scott’s builds your chassis around the Oldsmobile you want to create.
