1928-1931 Ford Model A Chassis Overview
Scott’s Hotrods manufactures one of the most complete 1928-1931 Ford Model A custom chassis available. Every chassis is built specifically around your project rather than produced as a one-size-fits-all frame, allowing your drivetrain, suspension configuration, wheels, tires and desired ride height to become part of the chassis design from the beginning.
At the front, Scott’s Rear Steer IFS features a heavy-duty one-piece 2″x4″x3/16″-wall crossmember, massive 1-1/8″x1/4″-wall DOM Tubular Upper & Lower A-Arms, built-in anti-dive, forged steel spindles and modern rack & pinion steering. Out back, Scott’s 4-Bar suspension uses heavy-duty adjustable DOM link bars, CNC-machined stainless steel rod ends and a Moser Ford 9-inch rear end. The foundation is a set of mandrel-bent 2″x4″x.120-wall frame rails tied together with an 8-point 1-1/2″ DOM tubular center crossmember.
Whether you’re building a 1928 Model A, 1929 Model A, 1930 Model A or 1931 Model A, Scott’s gives your hot rod modern suspension geometry, rack & pinion steering, available modern disc brakes and a rigid chassis engineered for modern roads and modern horsepower.

Why Rear Steer IFS on a Ford Model A?
This needs its own section because the live page clearly identifies both Model A chassis configurations as Rear Steer, but doesn’t really explain why that’s significant.
Scott’s Hotrods Rear Steer Independent Front Suspension positions the steering rack & pinion behind the front crossmember, making it ideally suited to the packaging and proportions of early Ford hot rods like the 1928-1931 Model A. Rather than adapting a universal suspension system to fit the chassis, Scott’s engineers the front suspension specifically around the application to provide modern steering response, properly designed suspension geometry and a clean installation underneath your Model A.
And this is NOT a Mustang II suspension. Scott’s Rear Steer IFS is a true Independent Front Suspension featuring massive Tubular Upper & Lower A-Arms, a one-piece crossmember, built-in anti-dive, oversized serviceable ball joints and CNC-machined fully adjustable upper A-Arm rod ends. It’s a modern suspension system engineered specifically for the vehicle—not a decades-old Mustang II design adapted to fit your hot rod.
Want Your 1928-1931 Model A to Lay Frame?
This should be one of the strongest sections on the page because the current page offers a dedicated Model A SuperSlam Rear Steer Chassis but barely sells it.
Scott’s Hotrods SuperSlam 1928-1931 Ford Model A Chassis is engineered from the beginning specifically for builders who want an extreme, pavement-hugging stance without treating air suspension as an afterthought. The chassis and suspension are designed around the travel, geometry and packaging necessary to put your Model A down low while still providing a proper driving height when raised.
Combined with Scott’s Rear Steer IFS, rack & pinion steering, 4-Bar rear suspension and Moser Ford 9-inch, the SuperSlam gives your Model A the stance of a radical show car with the engineering of a chassis designed to actually be driven. Whether you’re building a bagged Model A Coupe, Roadster, Sedan or radical custom, air it out at the show, raise it to driving height and hit the road.
