Why is Scott’s
1937-1939 Chevrolet Coupe Chassis Different?
Give your 1937, 1938 or 1939 Chevrolet Coupe the stance of a custom hot rod and the performance of a modern vehicle with a Scott’s Hotrods Built-To-Order chassis. Every 1937-1939 Chevy Coupe chassis is engineered around your individual build, including engine and transmission combination, suspension choice, wheel and tire package, desired ride height and intended use. Whether you’re building a traditional street rod, modern restomod, high-horsepower cruiser or a radical custom designed to lay frame, Scott’s builds the chassis around the car you want to create.
This is not a universal frame or a collection of suspension components adapted to fit an early Chevrolet. Scott’s combines a purpose-built full frame with our Independent Front Suspension, rack & pinion steering, Tubular Upper & Lower A-Arms, Parallel 4-Bar rear suspension and Moser Ford 9-inch rear end. Choose between a performance-oriented Coilover Chassis or our ultra-low SuperSlam Airbag Chassis for adjustable ride height and a show-stopping stance. Every chassis is manufactured with heavy-duty materials, CNC-machined components, Grade 8 hardware and 100% TIG-welded construction.
The sweeping fenders, tall grille and unmistakable body lines of a 1937-1939 Chevrolet Coupe make these cars ideal candidates for everything from traditional hot rods to completely modern restomods. But underneath that classic sheet metal, the original chassis, steering and suspension were designed nearly 90 years ago. A Scott’s Hotrods chassis replaces that outdated foundation with a complete modern platform engineered for dramatically improved handling, steering response, ride quality, braking capability, chassis rigidity and overall drivability.
Scott’s IFS features a heavy-duty one-piece 2″x4″x3/16″-wall crossmember, massive 1-1/8″x.250-wall DOM Tubular Upper & Lower A-Arms, built-in anti-dive, CNC-machined stainless steel adjustable upper A-Arm rod ends and oversized serviceable ball joints. Out back, our Parallel 4-Bar rear suspension locates a Moser Ford 9-inch rear end using heavy-duty adjustable DOM link bars and CNC-machined stainless steel rod ends. The entire suspension system is engineered to work together as part of the chassis rather than treating the front suspension, rear suspension and frame as separate components.

Coilover or SuperSlam – Build the Stance You Want
1937-1939 Chevy Coupe Coilover Chassis
For builders who want a low stance with excellent handling and predictable road manners, choose the Scott’s Coilover 1937-1939 Chevrolet Coupe Chassis. Aldan American Single-Adjustable Coilovers are standard, with additional performance shock options available. The Coilover configuration provides a responsive, controlled ride that’s equally at home underneath a comfortable highway cruiser, high-horsepower street rod or performance-oriented restomod.
Want Your 1937-1939 Chevy Coupe to Lay Frame?
If you’re building a custom Chevy that needs to sit extremely low, the Scott’s SuperSlam Airbag Chassis is the answer. Rather than simply adding airbags to a chassis designed around Coilovers, the SuperSlam configuration is built around air suspension and the desired stance from the beginning. Drop your Chevrolet down for the aggressive, ground-hugging look you want at the show, then raise it to a practical driving height when it’s time to hit the road.
A slammed 1937, 1938 or 1939 Chevrolet Coupe has a presence few other hot rods can match. The long fenders and flowing body lines become even more dramatic when the body is positioned tight over the wheels. Combine that stance with Scott’s IFS, rack & pinion steering, Parallel 4-Bar rear suspension and a Moser Ford 9-inch and you get a classic custom appearance backed by an entirely modern foundation.

Every Scott’s 1937-1939 Chevrolet chassis is Built-To-Order, which means we’re not forcing your project to conform to a predetermined drivetrain configuration. Your engine and transmission choices are considered when your chassis is manufactured, allowing the foundation of the vehicle to be configured around the actual combination you’re planning to run.

We stand behind ALL of the parts we manufacture. Other parts that we do not manufacture such as brakes, steering racks, ball joints, brake flex lines, power steering lines, etc carry their own manufacturer’s warranties. We are not responsible for these items outside of their original warranty.
All of Scott’s Hotrods manufactured parts are guaranteed to be free of defects in materials & workmanship for the lifetime of the part. Scott’s Hotrods Warranty is non-transferable.
Scott’s Hotrods 1937-1939 Chevrolet Coupe chassis does not use a Mustang II front suspension. Scott’s IFS was never designed around Mustang II suspension geometry. Instead, we manufacture our own True Independent Front Suspension specifically for each chassis application, utilizing a heavy-duty one-piece crossmember and massive Tubular Upper & Lower A-Arms.
We don’t use a lightweight three-piece crossmember with spring pocket hats or T-bolt slider adjusters. The Scott’s suspension provides precise adjustability through CNC-machined stainless steel upper A-Arm rod ends, with built-in anti-dive and oversized Grade 8 hardware throughout the chassis. The result is a purpose-built front suspension designed to provide the strength, adjustability and modern road manners expected from a serious custom Chevrolet.
The Most Complete 1937-1939 Chevy Chassis
A Scott’s Hotrods chassis can be much more than a bare frame with suspension attached. We’re known for building some of the most complete custom chassis packages available, allowing your 1937-1939 Chevrolet Coupe chassis to be configured with options including Wilwood Disc Brakes, power rack & pinion steering, sway bars, aluminum fuel tank, in-tank fuel pump, stainless steel fuel lines, stainless steel brake lines, engine mounts, transmission mount, steering linkage and upgraded Moser rear-end components.
The advantage is simple: more of the vehicle’s foundation can be engineered, manufactured and assembled as one complete package before it arrives at your shop. That means fewer components to source, fewer systems to engineer around each other and a cleaner starting point for the rest of your Chevrolet build.
