Transform your 1954–1960 Buick Special with a completely new Scott’s Hotrods custom chassis engineered specifically for your car. Whether you’re building a comfortable highway cruiser, powerful Buick restomod, Pro-Touring build or an ultra-low custom, every Scott’s Buick Special chassis is Built-To-Order around your vehicle and your goals.
This isn’t a universal frame adapted to fit an early Buick. Scott’s builds each 1954–1960 Buick Special chassis around your drivetrain, suspension choice, wheels, tires and desired ride height using our proprietary Independent Front Suspension, Equal-Length Parallel 4-Bar rear suspension and heavy-duty chassis components engineered for modern performance.
Every Scott’s chassis begins with the specifications of the car it’s going underneath.
Your engine, transmission, wheel and tire combination, brake package, steering configuration, suspension choice and desired ride height are considered before fabrication begins. Engine and transmission mounts can be positioned for your specific drivetrain, while the chassis is configured around how you want the finished Buick to sit, drive and perform.
From a traditional Buick-powered cruiser to a modern EFI-powered restomod, we build the chassis around your Buick—not the other way around.

Coilover or SuperSlam Buick Special Chassis
Coilover Chassis
Scott’s Coilover Buick Special Chassis is an excellent choice for a car that’s going to rack up serious street miles while delivering substantially improved handling and road manners.
Aldan American single-adjustable coilovers come standard, with additional performance-oriented shock options available.
From a comfortable cruiser to a more aggressive Pro-Touring-inspired Buick, the chassis can be configured around how you intend to use the car.
SuperSlam Airbag Chassis
Want your 1954–1960 Buick Special sitting LOW?
Scott’s SuperSlam Buick Special Chassis is engineered around air suspension from the beginning rather than simply replacing coilovers with airbags.
The chassis is configured around the increased suspension travel and desired ride height required for an extremely low custom, allowing the Buick to achieve an aggressive parked stance while maintaining an appropriate driving height.
For one of these huge late-’50s Buicks, a SuperSlam chassis with the body sitting down over the wheels is a hell of a visual, so I’d definitely feature a completed-car photo if you have one.
From Bare Chassis to Complete Roller
A Scott’s Buick Special chassis can be configured with substantially more than the basic frame and suspension package.
Available upgrades include power rack & pinion steering, Wilwood disc brakes, performance coilovers, front and rear sway bars, Moser rear-end upgrades, Watt’s Link, custom aluminum fuel tank, in-tank fuel pump, stainless steel fuel lines, stainless steel brake lines, steering linkage and more.
This allows customers to receive a much more complete chassis package engineered around their build rather than sourcing and adapting every major component separately.

A qualified professional mechanic or fabricator with the technical understanding of product function and installation procedures must install all Scott’s Hotrods products.
We stand behind ALL of the parts we manufacture. Other parts that we do not manufacture such as brakes, steering racks, ball joints, brake flex lines, power steering lines, etc carry their own manufacturers warranties. We are not responsible for these items outside of their original warranty.
All of Scott’s Hotrods manufactured parts are guaranteed to be free of defects in materials & workmanship for the lifetime of the part. Scott’s Hotrods warranty is non-transferable.
At the front of every Scott’s Buick Special chassis is our proprietary Independent Front Suspension, engineered and manufactured by Scott’s Hotrods.
The system features a one-piece 2″x4″x3/16″-wall IFS crossmember, heavy-duty 1-1/8″x.250-wall DOM tubular upper and lower control arms, built-in anti-dive geometry, oversized serviceable press-in ball joints and Scott’s CNC machined stainless steel adjustable upper control-arm rod ends.
This is Scott’s IFS—not a Mustang II suspension adapted to fit your Buick.
Equal-Length Parallel 4-Bar Rear Suspension
Out back, Scott’s replaces the original rear suspension with our Equal-Length Parallel 4-Bar Rear Suspension.
Heavy-duty 1-1/8″x.250-wall DOM link bars, CNC machined stainless steel rod ends and an adjustable Panhard bar provide a strong and fully adjustable rear suspension system. A Moser Ford 9-inch housing with 31-spline axles comes standard.
For more demanding builds, available upgrades include a Moser M9 FAB housing, 35-spline axles and Scott’s Watt’s Link.
Mandrel Bent. TIG Welded. Built in America.
Every Scott’s 1954–1960 Buick Special Chassis is manufactured from raw materials using vehicle-specific fixtures and jigs.
The foundation features mandrel-bent 2″x4″x.120-wall frame rails, an 8-point 1-1/2″ DOM tubular chassis crossmember, a heavy-duty one-piece IFS crossmember and 100% TIG-welded construction.
Scott’s also engineers the complete chassis around important considerations such as seating area, floor clearance, exhaust routing, drivetrain placement and chassis rigidity. That’s especially important when building a custom chassis for a large-bodied classic where preserving interior space matters.
'54-'60 Buick Special Coilover Chassis
Build Your Buick Special on a Better Foundation
The 1954–1960 Buick Special has the unmistakable size, styling and presence that makes these classic Buicks such incredible custom-car platforms. The chassis underneath one doesn’t have to drive like it’s more than six decades old.
A Scott’s Hotrods 1954–1960 Buick Special Custom Chassis combines classic Buick styling with Scott’s proprietary IFS, Equal-Length Parallel 4-Bar rear suspension, Moser Ford 9-inch rear end, rack & pinion steering and your choice of coilover or SuperSlam air suspension.
Whether you’re building a 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959 or 1960 Buick Special, your chassis is Built-To-Order around the drivetrain, stance and performance you want from the finished car.
