Why is Scott’s Hotrods’ 1935 Chevrolet Chassis Different?

A 1935 Chevrolet deserves a chassis engineered around the car—not a universal frame adapted to fit underneath it. Every Scott’s Hotrods 1935 Chevrolet Chassis is Built-To-Order around your specific vehicle, drivetrain, suspension choice, wheel and tire combination, desired ride height and intended use. Whether you’re building a traditional street rod, modern restomod, Pro Touring Chevy, high-horsepower cruiser or a radical custom designed to lay frame, Scott’s can build the foundation specifically for your project.

Our 1935 Chevy chassis replaces the limitations of the original suspension and steering with a completely modern platform featuring Scott’s Rear Steer Independent Front Suspension, rack & pinion steering, Tubular Upper & Lower A-Arms, Parallel 4-Bar rear suspension and Moser Ford 9-inch rear end. Choose a performance-oriented Coilover Chassis or the ultra-low SuperSlam Airbag Chassis for adjustable ride height and an aggressive show-stopping stance. Every chassis is manufactured in-house using heavy-duty materials, precision CNC-machined components, Grade 8 hardware and 100% TIG-welded construction.

1935 Chevrolet Chassis Overview

Scott’s Hotrods takes the unmistakable styling of the 1935 Chevrolet and gives it the modern foundation needed to perform like an entirely different car. Rather than simply replacing individual pieces of the original suspension, a Scott’s complete chassis provides an integrated system engineered around modern suspension geometry, rack & pinion steering, improved braking capability, increased chassis rigidity and dramatically improved ride and handling.

At the front is Scott’s proprietary Rear Steer IFS, with the steering rack positioned behind the front crossmember for improved packaging in early-car applications. This is NOT a Mustang II suspension. Scott’s uses a heavy-duty one-piece IFS crossmember, massive 1-1/8″x.250-wall DOM Tubular Upper & Lower A-Arms, built-in anti-dive, CNC-machined stainless steel adjustable upper A-Arm rod ends and oversized serviceable ball joints.

At the rear, Scott’s Parallel 4-Bar suspension locates a Moser Ford 9-inch rear end with heavy-duty adjustable DOM link bars and CNC-machined stainless steel rod ends. The complete system is designed to work together, giving your ’35 Chevy the stance you want without sacrificing the handling, strength or road manners expected from a modern custom chassis.

Coilover or SuperSlam – You Choose the Stance

1935 Chevy Coilover Chassis

For builders looking for a low, aggressive stance combined with excellent handling and predictable road manners, the Scott’s 1935 Chevrolet Coilover Chassis delivers a modern performance foundation underneath your classic Chevy. The chassis comes standard with Aldan American Single-Adjustable Coilovers, with additional performance shock options available. Whether you’re building a comfortable highway cruiser or a serious Pro Touring street machine, the Coilover configuration provides the control and responsiveness a modernized 1935 Chevy deserves.

Want Your 1935 Chevy to Lay Frame?

If low isn’t low enough, build it on a Scott’s SuperSlam 1935 Chevrolet Chassis. The SuperSlam configuration is engineered around air suspension from the beginning, allowing your Chevy to achieve an extremely aggressive parked stance while maintaining an adjustable driving height when you’re on the road. Instead of adding airbags to a chassis originally designed around another suspension configuration, the SuperSlam chassis is built specifically around the desired air-ride setup and stance.

The combination of a 1935 Chevrolet body laid over a modern Scott’s chassis creates the perfect foundation for a radical street rod, custom or show car. Add Scott’s Rear Steer IFS, rack & pinion steering, Parallel 4-Bar rear suspension and Moser Ford 9-inch, and you get the dramatic stance of a traditional custom with the engineering and road manners of a modern performance chassis.

Built Around Your 1935 Chevy

No two custom 1935 Chevrolet builds are exactly alike, which is why Scott’s doesn’t build every chassis exactly alike. Your chassis is manufactured around the specifications of your individual project, including engine and transmission combination, suspension configuration, desired ride height and available chassis options.

Planning an LS or LT engine swap? Small-Block or Big-Block Chevy? Building something completely outside the box? Tell us what you’re putting in the car and we’ll configure the chassis accordingly. Engine placement, transmission mounting, steering, suspension and ride height are considered as part of the overall chassis package instead of leaving the builder to adapt a generic frame to the finished vehicle.

Why Rear Steer IFS?

Scott’s Hotrods utilizes a Rear Steer Independent Front Suspension on the 1935 Chevrolet chassis, meaning the rack & pinion is located behind the front suspension crossmember. This arrangement provides the packaging needed for many early-car chassis applications while delivering modern rack & pinion steering and true independent front suspension.

Scott’s Rear Steer IFS is not a Mustang II suspension and was never based on Mustang II geometry. The suspension is engineered around the application using a one-piece heavy-duty crossmember, Tubular Upper & Lower A-Arms, built-in anti-dive and fully adjustable upper A-Arms. The result is a clean, strong front suspension designed specifically to work as part of the complete Scott’s 1935 Chevrolet chassis.

From Traditional Street Rod to Modern Restomod

This gives us another excellent search section without just repeating “1935 Chevrolet chassis” 30 times.

Your vision determines how we build the chassis. A Scott’s 1935 Chevy custom chassis can serve as the foundation for a traditional street rod with a tasteful lowered stance, an LS-powered restomod designed for cross-country driving, a high-horsepower Pro Touring build or a radical SuperSlam custom built to sit on the pavement.

That flexibility is one of the biggest advantages of a Built-To-Order chassis. Instead of changing your build to accommodate an off-the-shelf frame, Scott’s configures the chassis around the vehicle you’re actually building.

Build Your 1935 Chevrolet on a Better Foundation

A custom 1935 Chevrolet shouldn’t look incredible sitting still and drive like a car designed nearly a century ago. A Scott’s Hotrods chassis transforms the foundation of your ’35 Chevy with modern Independent Front Suspension, rack & pinion steering, Parallel 4-Bar rear suspension, a Moser Ford 9-inch rear end and your choice of Coilover or SuperSlam Airbag suspension. The result is the classic styling and character you want combined with the ride quality, handling, strength and performance expected from a modern custom vehicle.

Every Scott’s 1935 Chevrolet Chassis is Built-To-Order and 100% TIG-welded, allowing us to configure the frame around your drivetrain, stance and build goals. From a comfortable street-driven cruiser to an LS/LT-powered restomod, Pro Touring build or a radical air-ride Chevy designed to lay frame, Scott’s builds the chassis around your vision—not the other way around.
