Scott’s Hotrods 1966 Chevy Suburban – The “Maytag Refrigerator”
Meet the Scott’s Hotrods 1966 Chevrolet Suburban, affectionately known around the shop as the “Maytag Refrigerator.” What started as a classic ’66 Suburban with a tired 305 has been transformed into a modern, LSA-powered restomod showcasing just how far the original 1963-1966 Chevy C10/Suburban platform can be taken with the right suspension, drivetrain and chassis upgrades.
Rather than replacing the original frame, we completely transformed it using a Scott’s Hotrods Bolt-On IFS, Parallel 4-Bar Rear Suspension, Step Notch, Moser Ford 9-inch rear end and Scott’s Aluminum EFI Fuel Tank. Power comes from a supercharged GM LSA backed by a Tremec TKX manual transmission, creating a classic Suburban that combines vintage styling with modern horsepower, handling, braking and drivability.
